The Manayunk Canal Cleanup is a volunteer community service day where members of the Manayunk and Roxborough Community are gathering together to celebrate the environment and take care or our neighborhood by spending a day cleaning up the towpath. Projects include: repaving the path, cleaning the trash and debris from the canal, weeding, planting and removing graffiti. The cleanup is sponsored by Manayunk Development Corporation and Burbon Blue. Parking available at the Lock Street Lot. Meet at Bourbon Blue at 9:30am. Hope to see you there!
Community Pet Day September 18 10am-1pm
Veterinarians will give out low-cost vaccinations ($15 for rabies and distemper) and microchips ($10), along with tips on training, dog safety and animal health. Microchips will be FREE for pit bulls/pit bull mixes. They will also have info on low-cost spay/neuter and pit bulls/pit bull mixes can receive vouchers for heavily subsidized spay/neuter surgeries ($40, which includes pre-op exam, surgery, post-op pain meds, one year of vaccinations and e-collar). No registration is required, and the event is open to everyone (no age, income or residency requirements). This is a great opportunity for pet owners in need! Laurel Hill Cemetery’s Annual Woof, Wag n’ Walk October 9 10am-12pm
West Laurel Hill Cemetery’s annual Woof, Wag n’ Walk will benefit Main Line Animal Rescue and Montgomery County SPCA. People and pooches alike are invited to enjoy a mile-long guided tour of cemetery grounds where you’ll visit the burial places of some of the most famous residents. After the walk, there will be a raffle and free doggie goodie bags. The tour will depart from the Conservatory on the grounds of West Laurel Hill Cemetary, 215 Belmont Ave, Bala Cynwyd. Donations support Main Line Animal Rescue and Montgomery County SPCA. Special thanks to Braxton’s Animal Works for their continued generous support!
